In an attempt at romance and a throwback to walking to get takeout sushi at our old downtown apartment, my husband and I went to Fat Fish for takeout first before we ever went to eat inside. I was blown away at how fast it was ready (15 minutes), and how we both ordered rolls to our hearts' content (around 8 that first time I think?) and it was only $60! Not to mention that the fish was fresh and the flavors of the rolls overall were delicious. So, needless to say, we have gone back easily a dozen times in the year that we've lived in the area. We've gotten takeout, dined in, you name it. I'd probably sleep here if they let me! The service here is always above and beyond, the fish is fresh, and even their pho is quite good (not as good as Pho Tay Ho, but quite good considering it's not their specialty). My favorite roll is the Dragonfly, hands down. I absolutely love Fat Fish. It is my favorite "budget" sushi place in the SL valley, and it doesn't taste budget at all!

If you're looking for affordable, delicious, fusion sushi- this is the place for you!! If you're looking for high class, high quality ingredients in an extra fancy atmosphere, this place is NOT for you! I think that a lot of people here expect to have everything in a restaurant: cheap, delicious, good service, fancy, quality ingredients, etc. But the reality is you get what you pay for people! My husband and I come here when we are craving sushi like crazy and need a quick, affordable fix,but obviously the fish isn't going to be top quality not the other ingredients. BUT, still yummy. Especially the latin asian fusions because my Mexican husband loves the idea he can have jalapenos in his sushi. haha Don't come here if you're a sushi "master" because maybe you will not be happy with what you get, this place is mostly targeted at the American and Latin audience and tastebuds.

I love this place. The food is always amazing and very reasonable with prices. They are consistent with presentation and flavor. I like their menu better than Sapa. Some servers are better than others. I love dragon balls & crabby. I drive 40 min to get here so I don't come often but when I get a chance I love it!

There are so many expensive sushi joints with mediocre rolls. This place isn't one of them. The rolls are cheap, large and delicious. They serve beer. Great service. Satisfied. The cafeteria at my work sells sh*tty rolls for twice the price. I'm definitely not going to do that again, I'll just go to Fat Fish.

This small sushi restaurant is great. The people working there are good, the sushi is not too pricey and very good. I love this place!!

It was my first time here and glad I came!! To see pho and sushi I knew I was going to njoy this place. The sushi wasn't bad priced per roll. Everything tasted fresh and looked great in presentation!! My favorite part was the rolls weren't all covered up w sauce like most places, the sauce was on the plates to dip. The place was really clean and the service was friendly kinda over attentive but it wasn't annoying! I'll definitely will be coming back!! Soon!!

I was driving around the other day, lamenting that there wasn't any actual good sushi joints nearby to my work (I'm speaking of the area generally around Chinatown) and I remembered that I hadn't hit this place up yet. Though it isn't close, it isn't too awfully far away, either and definitely was a possibility going in, even though West Valley is another area of town I intensely dislike visiting. I agonize a bit over the overall rating for this review, as the sushi was better than it had any right to be and I found the jalapeno bomb things to be a somewhat inventive (though slightly undercooked) appetizer. The thing is that the sushi here is the very definition of fusion sushi. They probably do it better than anyone but I could not order a single roll without deleting something from it, which was a pain at best. There are no "regular"/"normal"/"ordinary" rolls to be had here; everything is a combination of something else. Possibly this is an attempt to be inventive, possibly it is an attempt at filler. I'm leaning towards the latter, given the pricing. While presentation was ok, although I repeatedly laughed at the huge plates, which lend the idea you're getting monster rolls (you're not) and also exceeds fitting comfortably on the smaller tables (get some plates that better match your table space, Fat Fish), the execution was questionable. The exterior rice stuck very well to the plate, but beyond that, the sushi pieces repeatedly kept breaking apart. The vast majority of my sushi visits overall have not had that tendency and when I do encounter it, invariably at the cheaper places, it starts as a nuisance and ends up completely annoying, such as here. This place, in fact, had the most broken pieces of any place I've been and more than several combined. The layout here is very bare, very sparse and unless you really like looking at the parking lot (nice to watch my car, I guess), not much in the way of ambiance. There is also no hot green tea to be had (jasmine is a flower; not an actual tea leaf and not an acceptable substitute) and loudly cranking content-free local radio is obnoxious. All of this makes this not a very comfortable space in which to spend time and made it very hard to relax. Service was overall pretty good and speed was ok, but this visit will probably be chalked up for informational only as I don't see a return of my own volition anytime soon.

Amazing sushi, only downside, they don't serve wine :(

I'm giving this place 4 stars for what it is--you get what you pay for: good sushi for a great price. The 5th star comes from the great service my husband and I received. It's hard to come by a good sushi place here in Utah, but this place does not disappoint. The sushi was affordable, came out fast, and our waitress was very attentive. She even had the sushi chefs make my sushi on a different board, wearing different sushi-making gloves because I'm pregnant. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know--there are probably some of you out there who might be scolding me right now for even THINKING about eating sushi while pregnant, but whatever, that's a totally different conversation ;) ). My husband and I ordered several cooked rolls including the King Kong, Vegas, Crabby, Shrimp Crunchy, and Dragon Balls. I didn't try the Dragon Balls because I'm not a huge fan of tuna, but my husband loved them and said the heat/spiciness was good. Everything that we had, we enjoyed. My favorite of them all was the King Kong, which seems to be popular here amongst others who have reviewed Fat Fish. I can't wait to come back and try their other rolls with the raw fish once our new baby arrives.

So I did a little double take when the menu was both sushi and Pho. But, hey... I love both so what the heck. Also, the place was pleasant and welcoming. I decided to do a little sushi as a starter and then a bowl of Pho. The sushi options are mostly rolls, and too many of them are fried or overdone for my taste. I am a bit of a purist. There were only 5 fish options for sushi / sashimi. That said, the 4 pieces I ordered were good quality and nice cuts. I also ordered a roll that was solid but unremarkable. The Pho was much better. Very solid broth and plenty of meat. It did not disappoint, although it was far from the best I have had. So why 4 stars? I would have given 3, but a few things bumped it up. I had 4 pieces of nigiri, a specialty roll, and Pho, along with two beers, and got out of there for just over $30 before tip. Hard to beat the value, even if the food was good but not great. Also, my server was worth an upgrade in the rating. She was smiling, pleasant, conversational, and also prompt, professional, and attentive. The kind of service I always hope to get, and remember when I do. If you go, try to sit at one of Keeley's tables. She was great! Next time I am in town, i will most likely be back.

Tried the Crabby, King Kong, and the Dragon. Crabby was absolutely amazing! King Kong was also good. Tried the Mochi and the cookies and cream was great. Didn't wait long at all, would definitely go back!

Oh, how I wish Takashi were open! We only came to Fat Fish on the sunday when neither Takashi nor Naked fish were open. We went to Fat Fish instead, and were underwhelmed. First, stick with the rolls. They were dirt cheap and tasted OK overall. However, once you start asking for the fresh fish (i.e. Sashimi combo), be prepared to wait ages for the food to come out. And although fish didn't taste bad, it didn't have that fresh taste either. Here's my take on the rolls: The red dragon and luscious lovers (strawberry) rolls were OK. The dragon balls were probably my least favorite, as it's just fried. (I'm sure it'll satisfy others' taste, but I felt it was too heavy for sushi). The umami was my favorite.

Fat Fish is part of a great strip of food joints. If you want Sushi, Pho or the only somewhat authentic crawfish place in Utah, this is your area. Fat Fish isn't 'A' sushi by any stretch, its not Tsunami or similar 'A' sushi joints. Its just everyday 'B' sushi at unbelievably good prices. They have rolls from $3 to $8 and they are decent sized and good. The $3 rolls are not tiny or limited in some other way. I've never dined in at Fat Fish but I get takeout there every two weeks or so. They are always quick to answer the phone and my order is always ready in 10-15 minutes. They do tend to skimp a little on soy sauce in the bag so be sure to ask for extra if you're taking the rolls to work or somewhere you don't have soy sauce. They don't have an obvious takeout pick up location or a greeter so you'll just want to walk in and head down the bar to the PC at the end of the bar and they'll help you there. Parking used to be tight but they have a huge lot in the back that's always open. Good sushi, great price, quick service. Fat Fish is hard to beat locally.

If you're looking for affordable, good, fusion sushi-Pho place you'll really like it here, nothing fancy nothing big. just good all together.. I tried both the sushi and the pho, I really enjoyed the shrimp crunchy roll and the violin roll unusually better than I expected. The pho however was more on the American side when it came to flavor but I was okay with that. I will return to Fat Fish especially for a quick inexpensive dinner date. Be advised the space here is kind of small, so plan accordingly if you go with a big group.

  • Sahar K.

Scrumptious! But definitely not for the faint of palette. Over indulging is just half the fun. I ordered: -the samurai -the red Dragon -the kiss of death (yeowza!) -the tataki (oh my delishness) -the red sun ( savory) -and of course a Sapporo I think I'm on to something special here. *Arnold voice* "I'll be back!"

Craving sushi & following fellow yelper advice, I drove out to Fat Fish with my friend while we were staying in downtown SLC (for a seminar) to check it out for lunch. It was easy to find, easy parking. The sushi was delicious. We got the Snow White & the Black Dragon. Service was a little slow to get our order, beverages & check at the end, but they were busy and the waitress was apologetic. Its not fancy, but the food was good. Might even go back tomorrow!

  • Laura N.

Been here several times. Pho is the best I have ever had. Dragon balls are great. Service is very inconsistent though. Sometimes you wait 5 min other times 45 even though there are the same amount of people there. Something for everyone. Not the usual "fishy" sushi

Fresh and good. try the soft shell crab roll. Nice prices and service. Helpful waitress.very clean and new inside.

  • Joe H.

We have been here 4-5 times and it's always good, when they first open they did not have a liquor licence so no beer. (saved us cash:) Their dragon balls and jalapeno poppers are awesome along with the sushi with the roasted garlic on top forgot the name of the roll. Good prices and the rolls are a little smaller so the pieces are made so you can eat it one bite unlike Kyoto's rolls. Service has always been fast and friendly

  • Adam H.

Great choice when looking for sushi! Incredibly simple menu, which is perfectly price. Each roll me and my wife had were great, along with the miso soup. The menu is organized by categories separated by a dollar. $3 for a California roll (you should never pay more than $3 for Cali) $4 for a vegas and up to $8 for specialty rolls. Plan on returning to try more of the menu's options. Awesome Yelp! find.

Sapa's little brother on the West side! I'd been wanting to try Fat Fish for a while but no one will ever come out to WVC for sushi. Well I stopped in by myself and was not disappointed. They have some of my faves from Sapa (albacore garlic, sunset) and some of their own rolls. Plus, I'm pretty sure everything was $1-2 less than Sapa. Can't wait to return!

    (4)
  • Joy N.

ALWAYS delicious! One of my favorite sushi joints. The sunset and imperial are my absolute favorites. Their thai tea is made fresh, so its super yummy. Prices are awesome, not bad at all. My waitress, Elba(I think) was the biggest sweetheart; checked up on us regularly and remembered me from previous times I've been there. I've never had the pho, because I only like my mom's pho, but I bet it's as delicious as the sushi!

  • Lisa H.

Great food, great price. We have recommended this place to several people and they all have great things to say as well. Tastes much better than you'd expect from a "cheap" sushi joint, where so many places in SLC are trying for half off rolls and making mediocre at best rolls. The pho Is great as well. If you're not a big fan of sushi or pho there aren't many options, but some of the rolls are very mild and taste more on the fusion side. Try it out!

  • Kay P.

Still not as good as red ginger ( or as cheap ) but they still have decent sushi . The service is fast and friendly. They do it a little differently here with putting the condiments on the side of the plate as a design rather than on the sushi like most places but I don't really like that . I love eel sauce and spicy mayo so the more the better on my sushi rather than a couple lines down my plate . I swear they put srirracha on everything so if you like it spicy you can't go wrong. The entire menu has pictures so it gives a good visual for the inexperienced sushi eaters who aren't sure what they are ordering .

Went with some coworkers as one has never had sushi, while another is studying Japanese and has been to Japan and is always on the lookout for good sushi. We all got different rolls and shared. Me being a fish wuss only went for tempura, like the Vegas Roll and the Mex roll. Both were fantastic. The sushi lover got the Dragon Roll and really liked it. The sushi noob also enjoyed what she got, which was a Juniper Roll, so there's something for just about everyone. I did take away one star because they didn't bring two of the rolls out for our group of 5 until we were nearly done eating and we had to remind them about them. Also, no indigestion problems! Yay! That's how you know cheap sushi is also good sushi :) We'll all be going back for sure, especially now that Red Ginger has been abandoned.

Let me start off by saying this, you are looking for an authentic Japanese sushi, this restaurant is not for you. Other than that, this sushi place is fantastic. They offer very competitive pricing for sushis and rolls and the taste is great too! The combination of the fish and the sauces are very good. I love West side and Black dragon. Yum. Ambients are nice, servers are friendly and refreshing. If you are craving for a quick fusion sushi, this is totally the place to go. 5 stars.

I enjoyed this place. It was about 10 minutes away from the Capitol Theatre, where we were going to see Wicked. It's a good deal for how much you get. We got 4 rolls, a 4 piece sashimi, and fried calamari. Add a a decent tip and it cost us a little less than $50, and we got some of their pricier rolls. I'm sure we would come back if we lived closer. I would recommend this place. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they ground up their tuna before they put it into the roll. They put solid cuts on top of the roll, but any fish they put into it was ground up, which gives a really...nasty texture. Everything else was great!

I was kind of skeptical that this place was going to be good, even after looking it up on yelp, simply because the prices are so low! I have this weird notion in my head that sushi has to be crazy expensive to be good. I was wrong. This place was great and it wasn't packed at all, when we went, so service was definitely fast and awesome. Our meal consisted of seaweed salad, 2 philly rolls, california roll, 2 vegas rolls and a caterpillar roll and it was still under 40$ (not including the tip). I also really like that they offer pho in addition to sushi because my husband isn't into pho as much as I am but is crazy about sushi, this gives us both an awesome place to go where we can each get exactly what we want. I'm super excited that we found this place and I'm definitely excited to keep coming back. sidenote: the staff was also pretty awesome about our 2 year old not only being there but making a giant mess when she accidentally spilled her water. I felt horrible but they were so nice and seemed understanding. I give them extra points for that.

Girlfriend and I couldn't decide between sushi and pho-- due to some circumstances, we ended up here and they had both (what luck, amiright)! The service was superb and all of the employees were very pleasant and seemed to want to be there (I'm looking at you, Chipotle). The decor was well put together, someone put some thought into the place and it just makes the experience better. Pho was on point and the sushi rolls were surprisingly good! I got the sunset, red dragon and King Kong-- I recommend all of those! I will definitely be talking about this place to my friends and family-- I'm just glad there's a sushi place I can count on out here on the west side AND get quality pho while I'm at it! Hurry up and get your liquor license so I can get my Sapporo on with my sushi! Also, maybe add some mochi ice cream for dessert? I definitely would have ordered anything on the dessert menu; I was incredibly impressed!

  • Trissta H.

Couldn't decide on sushi or pho for dinner, it just so happens our favorite sushi place was closed as well as our favorite pho house - thanks Utah for having a random state holiday. Thus, we went to our backup pho house, and they are doing remodeling but serving their food with a local sushi place - go figure! The pho was delicious, as good as our favorite pho house, we wouldn't mind coming back for the pho alone. The sushi pleasantly surprised us! It was not lacking anything and I couldn't find one thing to complain about; in particular the price was low for the quality of food. I would recommend to my friends and family to eat here anytime, the only thing we were disappointed in was no beer (menu said coming soon) and no dessert - how needy we have become!

I love love love this place. I try to come weekly. Every time I come I like to try a new roll but I always have to order the albacore garlic roll.. They are friendly and quick. The place is on the small side so when it's a busy day you will have to wait for a table, but it's worth it. The prices here are fantastic too. My favorite roll is only $5! Oh, and they serve pho :)

    (5)
  • Katy P.

I would eat here weekly if it weren't a drive for me. It is worth the drive and one of the first places in Utah I've found to be consistent with their food every single time. The pricing keeps it affordable for everyone and the service is outstanding. Honestly we've liked every roll we've tried but Vegas, King Kong, and Luscious Lover are well worth the price.

  • Brenda L.

Coming from Vancouver, my expectations for sushi is very high. I don't normally prefer to eat sushi at a joint that also serves pho. I give fat sushi 2 stars for the sushi and 1 star for the service. Let's just say you get what you pay for.

We discovered this place on our most recent snowboarding trip to Utah. We saw bowls of noodles when we first walked in all decked out in our snow gear and my boyfriend assumed it was Japanese ramen. I smelled the air inside the restaurant and thought "Wait a minuteee...This doesn't smell like Ramen..this smells like my people's food!" (I'm Vietnamese). We drove from Park City to SLC to go to the Dogfunk warehouse after a long day on the slopes. We were starving after our shopping trip and decided to search for a sushi place on the yelp app. It led us to Fat Fish and we initially assumed that it was just a standard sushi place. I'm not going to lie...I was weirded out at first when I put it together and went "ermagerd it's a Pho and sushi place!" I'm glad we didn't follow my gut instinct to run the other way. Some of their rolls have a bit of Vietnamese influence and they're delicious! The quality you get for the price is unbeatable. (Are these Utah prices?!) We'd probably go back there if we go back to Utah for some pow next season. The minus 1-star is for the annoying server who wouldn't let me order beer for my boyfriend when he was in the bathroom. He was like "oh we're not as relaxed as CA and we card" Really? CA definitely cards too. It's not that hard to card me first and give me the beer and then card my boyfriend when he comes back. We're both in our mid-late 20's and definitely not using fakes.

Visited here after working on the car all day...so we were hungry. Ordered a bowl of pho, a Philly roll, and a Kiss of Death. Food came out w/in 15 minutes (early dinner on a Saturday). Pho (with all the fixins and special brown sauce) tasted great, the waitress said the broth is homemade. Sushi was fine, rice could've used a bit more flavoring IMO, but not bad for the price. As other reviewers have noted, it's nice to come to a place that is affordable on the menu, and doesn't need gimmicks like "1/2 off" overpriced rolls. Total cost w/ tip was under $30, and we left satisfied.

I liked the squid salad but found the volcano roll to be quite bland. I couldn't taste the fish as it was overwhelmed by the mayonnaise crab filling. Service seemed a bit slow too.

I wanted to give this restaraunt 4 stars.. But one of the waitresses there is making me take it down a star. As I came in I saw no one up front to seat me so I grabbed a seat. They have no hostsess area, so I assumed that is what you do. The Asian waitress with short black hair came up to me and told me that I shouldn't have seated myself.. I said no one was up front and she just said we would have seated you.. It was very awkward and rude really. It's such a small place I wouldn't think it would have mattered.. Another waitress proceeded to help me that was much nicer. As I was leaving the restaraunt there were some people the previous mentioned Asian waitress was helping and she got there order wrong.. Like really wrong. They said they would eat those rolls as they most likely would be thrown away... She kind of implied that they were at fault and they must have told her the wrong order.. She then took the wrong sushi to the back and I'm sure threw it away.. Everyone else was friendly and professional. She kind of ruined it for me.. Besides that.. I ordered the Vegas Roll, Caterpillar and Crunchy Shrimp. They all were pretty good. The batter was a little thick on the Vegas roll, but overall pretty tasty at a good price. I will probably go back and I hope for better service next time..

This is some of the best sushi I have ever had!!!! For the price I haven't found anywhere that comes close. The vegas roll is very good and the dragonfly roll is excellent!!! I try something new every time I go in. The staff is awesome even remembering my name by the 3rd time I had gone in. If you are in the mood for sushi this is the place to go!!!!!!!

Still the best! Prices have increased recently by about $1 per roll but the prices are still amazing. We recently attempted to go back to another sushi place & were horribly disappointed. Never again. We will ONLY go to Fat Fish. Faves: Sunset, Dragonfly, Spicy Yellowtail, Blazing Jazz, King Kong...crap they are all SO good.

Normally an amazing place with great staff, but the server Ashley ruined my experience last time. She was rude and condensing, not focused on customer service at all. I will NEVER go back if she Is working. WORST AND RUDEST SERVER I have ever had.

Fat fish is awesome love the staff and the manager is unbelievably friendly. Their sushi is spot on and the pho is amazing. Can't wait till next time. Also the family's restaurants next door are also really great. Bucket of crawfish, pho green papaya, (noodle chopstick) are also extremely tasty..this family knows what they are doing!!!

Love this place. You can't go wrong here. I do wish they offered a smaller bowl of pho, just because I have a hard time choosing whether to get sushi, pho or both. Both are great and the sushi rolls are cheap. Definitely a place I visit often.

I decided to try this place out for lunch. I ordered the small sashimi combo (pick 3 of 3 - 9 pcs in total) and their Vegas roll, for pick up. Total cal to $14 + tax. What can I say, this place was pretty darn good. The sashimi was beautifully presented and they were curious enough to keep their sauces in separate containers so the rolls wouldn't get soggy. When I went it the place was clean and had a good vibe, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was very inviting. I am defiantly going to be frequenting this place from now on :) P.S. The prices are also very good here. You can get full for under 10 bucks, but when I sushi, I sushi hard. So I usually can;t get away with anything under $20 :P

Great sushi at great prices. I've had the red dragon and black dragon. Both awesome! I'd recommend the King Kong roll if you like fried rolls. When they are busy expect to wait though. They could use more staff.

I am really picky about everything in life, and people who know me will testify I am picky about my food too. Not picky as in being a snob and only eating great food, not picky as in only liking certain types of food, but picky as in really enjoying good food and noticing the difference. This is especially true of sushi. I have been to many sushi restaurants in California close to the coast, and this place has the best sushi I have ever had. You can't go wrong here as all the sushi on the menu is good. My favorite is the samurai. It is spiced really well and does not need a lot of sauce. They have very good prices here too.

It was late and I was trying to find tempura sushi. This was the closest to me at the time so I placed a to go order and was surprised that total came to $4.12 for a Vegas roll. It was definitely tasty but not the best but for the price it was good. I thought it was a little dry but I'd still eat it again. I was impress by the pricing so I returned with my spouse but dined in the restaurant and had other rolls as well and were really good. We had Vegas crabby rolls. Definitely will be returning.

Friendly guys at the sushi bar and waitresses, but the sushi rolls are awfully small. Maybe I am just spoiled by being in Seattle recently, but these sushi pieces tonight were like little baby bite sized pieces.

This place got pho and sushi, too bad they are both average. I have eaten at many different pho places and I feel like the broth here is bland. I ordered their umami and aloha roll, they are not bad (reasonable for their price). This place looks kind of like the next door restaurant ( bucket of crawfish). I suspect they are own by the same owner.

Been here 3 times in 4 weeks. Great Price. Great Rolls. Only suggestion is to make sure all the rolls actually come out so others aren't just staring at you wishing they had some food.

Looking for a quick bite of sushi that wasn't lacking in quality. Wow. This place was perfect. So so good. Red Dragon is AMAZING and the Vegas was great too! We fed three of us for twenty bucks. We will be back.

This place was as delicious as I hoped! Yelps hours are wrong but the people and sushi here are awesome! Definitely a new regular spot for me.

Fantastic food at Fat Fish!! Reasonably priced and we loved all three rolls we tried (Mojo, Samurai, Forest Caterpillar). Pho was also yummy! Huyen offered great service. My husband feels like we found a "hidden treasure."

Stopped in for an early dinner date. Started with a crunchy shrimp roll ($3) and it was fantastic. We both had Pho and it was so yummy! Service seemed confused and changed midway during our ordering but they figured things out! Very pleasantly surprised about this little place.

Delicious fresh sushi at a surprisingly low price. My friend and I loved all 6 rolls we tried!

The rolls we had were wrapped poorly, skimpy and dry. The pho was pretty good except that the steak was chewy. Definitely won't be returning.

We ordered devil and King Kong and eel. Their sushi is awesomeness the price is very reasonable. The fish is fresh. Plus the waitress KAylee is very nice and friendly. I will go back there for sure.

Great sushi hole in the wall! This replaces tsunami for us!! Great service, quick, and super friendly staff! We will definitely come back here!

The pho broth was on point, although you have to go across the street for the Bun dishes at their sister restaurant. The Japanese side offered a variety of appealing looking and tasting rolls at a very reasonable price, also the service was great!

Great sushi for dirt cheap. We got 3 rolls for $16. Go for the Dragon Fly (my fave) but we also had the Sunset and the Spicy Tuna and they were both good. Never going to wait for 3 hours at Happy Sumo again! But seriously, the service is great and it wasn't too packed, and best of all- the food rules.

Awesome sushi at a cheap price

Service was pretty poor. Hair in the sushi. Half the table ordered Sushi and half Pho. We received and ate sushi before any pho arrived. Unbelievable that rolls could be made, severed and eaten before pho would be served. We ended up leaving and getting pho elsewhere.

  • Danny O.

First time at da Fat Fish. Friday night, a little busy, but no wait for a table. Food came out extremely fast and our server kept our drinks filled. Sunset, spicy tuna, and dragonfly rolls were fresh and delicious. I've long enjoyed Happy Sumo but I'll be coming here from now on and saving a lot of $. Only 4 stars because the pho and the miso were a little boring. You'll be very happy if you just stick with the sushi.

We've eaten here twice. The 1st time was not a good experience. Then we heard the owners that run Sapa also own Fat Fish we decided to give it another try. Just like last time my stomach has felt queazy. Some of their not fried rolls make it to the table awfully fast - almost like they were pre-made and on stand-by. We won't be eating here again. There is nothing worse then eating sushi and then having a stomach ache for hours after eating it.

Delicious sushi at an amazing price. Totally worth it. Staff could help sweep the floors a bit, but other than that it is a great place to eat and clean

  • Grace N.

it's pretty cool that this place serves both sushi AND pho, but the quality and taste of their food is pretty average. and their tables are pretty small which makes it difficult to place dishes on. the pho broth is just okay, the meat could have been more tender, and there was a lot of noodles. the bowl doesn't look like much, but it will fill you up. despite the unsatisfactory bowl of pho, the sushi rolls were pretty tasty.

  • Leslie V.

I wish I could give this place 3 stars. You can tell they put thought into the design of the space and the staff is super friendly. But it ends there. I hate to say it but their sushi was the worst I've ever had. The sashimi pieces were cold. There were a few pieces that had frozen icicles. We sat at the bar and could see the ice on their fish. I didn't think they would actually serve it. We also ordered some rolls: red dragon, spicy tuna, and mojo. They were all tasteless and the flavors didn't mesh. They put sauces on the sushi in an attempt to give it a little flavor but it shouldn't come from that. Because the staff was friendly I wanted to give them another star. BUT they forgot our red dragon order and we had to remind them. We ended up waiting about 15 mins after we finished everything else. I was glad that roll was deep fried because I couldn't stomach another piece of raw fish. I will definitely never go back and would tell others it's not worth it.

This is a good sushi place; loved the King Kong. I would say it is the best sushi I had in West Valley. I will definitely go again.

This place is great! They are a sister restaurant to Sapa downtown and have a lot of the same rolls. They don't have a roll over $7 and all nigiri is just $3 for 2 pieces! The sushi isn't fancy but it is fresh and well put together. The nigiri is amazing and we leave paying half the price of other places for just as good of a meal! I'm really excited I tried this place it's my new go to sushi restaurant!

Went to Green Papaya to get Pho and they were closed for remodeling. Ended up in the same parking lot as Fat Fish. We tried the sushi and the Pho. The food was delish and service was excellent. The tables were pretty close together, so I'd imagine pretty cramped when it gets busy. I would relate the sushi to Sapa and the Pho was ... well it was Pho. :)

My new favorite sushi place! Prices are incredible and the food is amazing! People are wonderful too! I can't wait to take my family there now. Thank you!

I was here a few times when Pho Green Papaya was under remodel. Overall, this location doesn't serve anything spectacular if you were to compare it with high end sushi joints. When comparing this sushi joint with others in its class you can find the following: 1) cheap sushi rolls 2) taste pretty good for not being made by Japanese sushi chefs 3) nothing really spectacular, but it can be said to be good sushi. 4) simple concept 5) don't expect anything you would see in high end restaurants 6) limited menu 7) only serves sushi rolls Overall, this joint is good for cheap sushi. You can spend about $10 and be full off of good cheap sushi. Nothing as spectacular as omakase, namachirashi, authentic japanese ramen...but it does have a more diverse menu than just a California Roll. It does have a limited sashimi menu, but with the price the restaurant charges...I was very reluctant to try it due to freshness issues. Give it a try. It's great to fill the sushi craving on a budget.

  • Aleena S.

Their sushi has improved a lot! They often have new hidden rolls that are not on their menu. And this is also one of my favorite places for pho!

  • John C.

This place has great prompt service, even when the house is packed. The Pho is decent for a sushi place. :-) The fish is okay, about the same as going to a Simply Sushi where you aren't expected to get Takashi quality but decent overall. Would like to try some other combination of rolls when we go back.

  • Kelsi G.

Went for lunch and the service was awesome! The rolls were fresh. And the atmosphere was comfortable. My first time but not my last. My 4 year old dug her California roll!

  • Stephen L.

Good sushi and pho combination with very reasonable price. This is my 7-year-old top one restaurant for sushi ... His favorites are shrimp crunchi and King Kong. My guess on why he loved them is due to the sweet sauce that they put in. My favorite is the calamari appetizer ... One of the best calamari in Utah. My wife loved their pho ... Especially after skiing. The service is good and we never disappointed. But, if you could get Huyen, you're lucky ... She is the best server ever ! This is not a fine-dining restaurant, but I gave 5 stars for its value and unique combination. It's long-overdue !

Finally I don't have to drive to downtown SLC for good sushi! The rolls here are almost identical to Sapa and in my opinion just as good. The rolls were very affordable, ranging from $3 to $8, and presented beautifully. On my last visit my friends and I ordered the calamari, Albacore Garlic, Samurai, and chef Tony made us three special rolls. All were delicious and very filling! Our waitress was great! Very friendly and filled our water promptly. When it came time for the bill she was kind enough to split it. I would definitely come here all the time but they do get pretty crowded in the evening and the wait can be horrendous. But don't let this deter you from coming! Good sushi takes time and should always be made to order. I have never tried their pho so that's also on my list of things to try. This restaurant definitely combines value and convenience. Pho and sushi are two of my favorite things!

Puff n' Stuff--as I like to call Fat Fish--understands what it is and delivers on that self-awareness in delicious fashion. Don't think of it as a sushi restaurant. It's a sushi roll joint that also serves really good pho (it's the same as Noodle & Chopstick/Pho Green Papaya across the way). Their rolls are inventive, amusing, and delicious. They have a simple and reasonable menu/pricing system and a pleasant place for you to scarf n' slurp. My assortment of Forest Caterpillar, Chilli Duo, and Blazing Jazz rolls left me feeling not too fat and quite happy.

My husband took me out to date night here and I loved it. I wanted sushi but I also wanted to try some place new. From the outside it looks deceptively small but once inside it's cozy with another seating area in the back. They have a great menu with rolls that range from 3 dollars to 8 dollars with pictures of each one. I tried several but my favorite one was the luscious lover, the strawberries on top were amazingly sweet. I also had their miso soup and calamari. The miso was some of the best I've had with yummy mushrooms swimming in it. The calamari was fried with fried jalapeno and onions. All of it was cooked perfectly but there was definitely more onion then calamari or jalapeno. Over all I really liked this place and will definitely be returning!

I went here with friends last night and it was very good! The sushi was absolutely amazing and the service was awesome! Our waitress was the best! She was very kind and made sure we were always taken care of. The service was kind of slow and we were there for an hour or so before our food came out and, it didn't come out all at the same time. Apparently our ticket got lost in all the chaos going on. That was ok for me though. I enjoyed the time talking with friends and having a good time. When the food did come out, it was well worth the wait! I will definitely visit Fat Fish again!! It was an overall good experience for me! I enjoyed my time there!

Yo yo yoooo! Trying my first Asian joint in Salt Lake City, and I have to say it's pretty darn good! I got myself a feast of 6 different plates of sushi (varying about 8-12 pieces per plate), and man I was very impressed! They tasted just about the same as the quality places in Cali but for half (or maybe even 60%) of the price! How much did all that cost me? Under $30 for a very filling dinner. To top it off, the atmosphere reminded me of some pretty good sushi joints in La Jolla I've eaten at before, the servers were super chill, and the sushi chefs kept checking on the expression of my face at nearly every bite (creepy I know, but it's their version of QC). If you want to see a photo of what I'm talking about (I think my photo has 5 of the 6 because the last one came out a little slow), look for it in the images section! Other than that, give this place a try. I did, and it didn't disappoint (thankfully)! Now if only SLC (and Utah), would allow full powered alcohol in their establishments - a nice hot sake would've been a great pairing!

Everything my friends and I tried was delicious. The sushi combinations where so refreshing after being used to the same thing everywhere else. Service was great and attentive, ambiance and seating were also great. My favorite part is how inexpensive it is, you're definitely getting high-quality food and service for cheap. Will visit again!

Listen. A sushi bar with a all picture menu. Reason enough to go. Finally!! Add to that the prices and quick service, this place would have to be pretty bad for me to not go back. I enjoyed the chill atmosphere and between my friend and I we chowed down on like six or seven rolls. Each one was really good. Did I mention the prices already??? We didn't try any pho but the people next to us had it and I snuck a peak for you. It sort of looked like she was eye rolling with pleasure. I'm not trying to be creepy, she looked like she liked it. The rolls.... They were fast. They were cheap. Just like my mother. (hi, ma!)

Just judging off of the location (west valley) I was thinking the worst. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The outside and inside of the building is very nice! My order: Philly, Crabby, & Dragon Balls. They were all delicious and will be ordering them again! Our service was very prompt our waitress Gena was great! Great quality for the price!!!

  • Frank M.

Literally, every single roll we ordered had sriracha on it. I'm not against sriracha, but I like a little variety in my sushi, and everything you put sriracha on, only taste like sriracha. We even looked at the menu after the fact, and half of the rolls we ordered didn't have sriracha listed anywhere on the ingredients. So it was sort of a disappointment. The interior was cool, and so was the service. Then taking into consideration the area of West Valley we were in, a nice sushi joint was a cool surprise. We'll go back, because I believe the sriracha on every roll was an error, other than that, it was a real hip place.

I came here with a group of 13 people for our friends' birthday dinner while in SLC. You really get what you pay for - good sushi for a great price and great customer service by our server whom I forgot her name but she was very attentive and accommodating. We came here on time before the place got busy - I love how our server split our checks beforehand and asked if you'll be with someone or just by yourself. It's hard to come by a good sushi place in Utah and this place did not disappoint. Their sushi rolls are affordable, came out fast, and they were quite tasty. They have a range of sushi prices from $3 to $8, if you want something on the "sweet" side they have rolls like that or if you want more of a spicy side they have rolls like that too. I got the Dragon Fly Roll, Imperial Roll, Aloha Roll, and Mojo Roll - these were the spicier rolls and I really liked how the rolls weren't obnoxiously spicy and you can still taste the flavor. Oh, this place offers Pho too! I find that very fascinating because it's a sushi place and they serve Pho. Lol. Overall, I think this will be a tradition every year whenever my friends and I go back to Salt Lake City in August. I really like this place!

I was visiting Salt Lake City and was really stoked with trying out this place because of the high reviews, but their service made my experience terrible. We waited about 30 minutes to get seated at a table. It was a weekend night, which was expected. The bar area was empty. However, it took abut 50 minutes to get our food and here's why: There was a huge rush of people that came in afterwards and decided to sit in front of the bar. The restaurant was more pre-occupied in accommodating their guests at the bar with their food instead of the guests that were seated at the tables. We watched these guests get served before us while we were sitting at our table. When they finally got food out to our table, it only came out one roll at a time. It also seemed to be the case with everyone around us as well. Worst of all, when we pointed it out to the manager, there was no apology. I'm glad that I'm from out of town, because the service alone would never make me want to come back. Good thing I don't live there. The best tip would be to sit at the bar if you want service.

The food here has greatly improved! I was here when they first opened and wasn't too fond. Decided it's been a while and since I relocated jobs I was running out of options and came back here. Very glad I did. Brooklyn, Vegas, king Kong, crabby. Were the 4 rolls I ordered. I'm not gonna be able to tell you what's in what since I ordered by picture but I will tell you that all of the rolls were great and the crabby roll was my favorite! Next up for me is to retry their pho in future visits.

Great place to take someone who is trying out sushi for their very first time (recommend the Jupiter, California and Sunset). The PHO is excellent. If you want more ginger or wasabi, you just have to ask....

Great pho today! Had the P1: Pho Dac Biet. The Dragon Fly is still one of my favorite rolls. Plus, they just got new napkin holders! They earned the last star. :)

  • Rachel B.

This place is INCREDIBLE! High class sushi on a budget! I have had the Vegas, Mex, California, Albacore Garlic, Forrest Caterpillar, Crabby, Philly, Sunset, and the Red Violin and I was happy with all of them. My husband has had their Pho and said it was really delicious too. I have seen other reviews saying they had bad service and I can honestly say, I have never experienced that. I will note that we did get served faster when we sat at the bar then we did at the table but I didn't think it was really slow when we were at the table either. I wish they had a liquor license which is a downer but the food more than makes up for it! It isn't really fancy but it is delicious!

  • Brian P.

Food was great. Decor appears to be a work in progress. Solo diner curse strikes again. Try to seat me by the bathroom door because I'm a solo diner even though the joint is empty? That alone reduced my likelihood of returning. Sushi chef would not stop trying to force a conversation? Another bad move. Does the entertainment in my face I keep trying to turn to not give a hint to leave me alone?. Food was worthy of another trip, "service" makes it unlikely.

After driving to eat next door at the crawfish place this caught my eye. I walked in to check the menu and couldn't believe the prices, I then went back to the crawfish place and it was dead. Based on how popular this place was I decided to give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did! This place had great prices, I sat at the bar and the chef offered suggestions and I ordered what he recommended, the Phoenix and the Westside along with the stuffed jalapeño's. Everything was perfect and I will be back anytime I'm in SLC.

I moved to Utah about 2 months ago for school, and Fat Fish was one of the first places I ate out at. So why did it take me this long to write a review? Let me start by prefacing that I moved here from California, where diets go to die and the Yelp community is alive and thriving. We take food very seriously, and that would be an understatement. Naturally the first thing I did before I even got here was check popular eateries around SLC. I was shocked when I saw the most reviewed establishment barely made it past 1000 reviews and all other restaurants were in the low hundreds! This is definitely not how we do in socal. Anyyyyways I decided to let my expectations settle down to Utah standards before I wrote a review. Afterall, this is home now and I've actually come to kinda sorta love it. So although I can't make any promises, this will be the last time I compare a restaurant in Utah to California. I'm glad I waited, because initially I would've given Fat Fish 3 stars, but after being here a while... I realize it deserves 4. The rolls are tasty and the prices really can't be beat. I mean rolls start at $3. $3!!! I've never heard of such a thing. It's not THE best, but it's better than good and definitely hits the spot. P.s. I think it's funny they don't have sashimi but do offer a variety of pho...

The pho was awesome! And we ordered 10 rolls. Would not order the Aloha again. But other than that every roll was awesome! Filled up a family of 4 for under $70! Can't wait to come back.

I'm a huge sushi person so I've been wanting to give this place a try and I have to say my first experience was weird. The day I came here for the first time (which was about a month ago) it was around lunch hour and yeah it was a little busy I stood there waiting to be seated but the waitress looked at me as if she didn't want to even assist me on anything ether that I felt ignored literally for 5 minutes when it's only me with no one else behind me finally I did get service by someone else but since they were busy I decide to order for a take out. At least they gave me a glass of water to chill down while I waited to make an order lol. I don't remember which rolls I ordered but I ordered enough to fill me up of course and I'm not going to lie some of them tasted good but the other weren't worth the price for it. It felt like the quality was off on certain rolls or on certain things I don't want to sound picky but to me that's what it seem and taste like. Overall Yeah I'm skeptical of coming back but I'll think about it.

  • Long T.

This place was great.! They are very fast and efficient every time I dined in regardless of how busy they are. Very friendly and professional staff who serves with a great smile. The food was excellent! I ordered the house special pho and octopus salad. The pho is deliciously, and the broth is very flavorful with a touch of sweetness. The broth wasn't bombarded with rendered fat oil that most pho restaurants put in their broth for additionally flavor. I personally hate it when restaurants do that. The broth is the main star when it comes to eating pho, so I never contaminate it with sauces or vegetables. The octopus salad was very juicy and tender I recommend it to those who love octopus. Considering that it's getting cold outside, I recommend pho lovers to give this place a try. Very reasonable price, great services, and beautiful atmosphere.

We come here regularly and its consistently good every time. Today is no exception. We had the King Kong and the special fire dragon. They were both very good. My wife loves their Mexican roll too.

  • T.J. S.

5 Stars all the way. Even at their busiest, service was great. I have not always been a fan of sushi, but recently my wife and I have been venturing out. We enjoyed Simply Sushi, but the cost wasn't something we could tolerate too often. We recently came here for the first time and tried about 8 different rolls. Every one was amazing, and even the suggestion for a dessert roll was NOM. We have been back a couple time since then, and have not been disappointed.

Wow, hidden gem. Great, fresh Maki sushi. Service is fantastic, just come early because they get crazy buzy. Small quaint restaurant. All tables, close seating. Rolls priced from $4 to $8 and all are so good.

Everything we ordered was excellent. Waitress was great and had personality. Good atmosphere. There was a funky smell kind of like a bathroom sanitizer but don't let that detour you. Place is clean and sushi is great priced. Will return. New favorites sunset and crunchy shrimp. Also was fastest service I've experienced at a sushi place.

I love fat fish food and the place. I just wish when u get to go food the sauces wouldn't be mixed. It makes no sense to have all three sauces in a small container. Ruins the flavored completely. Also it would be nice if the smaller sauce containers were bigger so u can dip into the sauce if you want just like you can while at the restaurant sitting down.

The food was awesome and a good price for sushi, and the service was good. I would give 5 stars, but it wasn't as clean as I'd like for a restaurant. Everything was sticky. My shoes got stuck to the floor and hands to the table..

Apparently this is ran by the sister to the owner of Sapa - which is why is it as good as it is. We went there on a Sunday evening and our waitress was the best we've had in a while, I wish I could remember her name. The restaurant its self is nice, however, it was a little dirty - there was napkins and stuff on the floor throughout the restaurant that is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, if it was clean it would for sure be 5 stars, but the trash was a little distracting but not a huge deal. The pricing is the best we've found, and the quality and selection was great - if you're considering it then for sure give it a shot.

AMAZING sushi & prices. Definitely recommend You hear $3 sushi rolls & immediately picture yourself with food poisoning Ha Ha Well at least I do But everything here is top quality fresh and delicious My favs are the Sunset roll & Vegas roll If you're on the west side this is the place for Sushi. Casual & a little loud inside when it's busy so prob not a date night place Love this place. Will definitely be back

I don't know of another place where you're going to get such amazing sushi for such a reasonable price. Each roll is made with such fresh and delicious ingredients. The ambiance is also great, especially considering the neighborhood (West Valley). The Garlic Albacore is my favorite, but I've never had a roll I didn't like.

Hmm lets see what we ordered; umami, crunchy shrimp, philly, king kong, and some veggie avocado rolls...yes I like a variety. The place looks fairly new but based on the reviews its been open less than a year. The spot is kinda hidden in the far end of a shopping complex. I like the name fat fish, reminds me of the movie "Big Fish" although there wasn't any gigantic rolls that would live up to the name. But the rolls were decent, really giving this place 3 1/2 stars but since yelp likes to round up, worthy 4 stars it is. This is a strictly sushi place, no bento boxes or chicken teriyaki, this is as real as it gets. Prices here are decent, between 5 rolls, 2 miso soups, and hot tea came out to 30 bucks, not bad. Kinda wish the decor was more to look at, I can see a mural in the back wall in progress, perhaps I'll hit up this place again. Not bad peeps, its nice to know there is a little variety happening in the west side of the valley. One recommendation is get me some hand rolls, love those suckers.

Thoroughly impressed. One of the best bowls of pho I've had in Salt Lake. I got P1 which had everything in it - beef, brisket, beef ball, tendon, tripe. I devoured that bowl in about ten seconds flat. I don't know if it was because I was hungry or it was delicious or both. Either way I'll be back if I'm ever out that way again. I came with a large group for a going away dinner, and the staff obliged by reserving the back room. A little small, but it was good. They also let us order ahead which was really nice. In addition I ordered the red dragon, which was decent for $5. It was essentially a california roll with tuna on top. Eh, not what I expected but good nonetheless. I also tried a friend's spicy tuna which was ok, except it had jalapeno, which I don't care for in my sushi. My bowl of pho was $7 something, which was ok price for the size. I've seen better portions but the broth was delicious. Come check this place out if you're ever in the area!

  • Cecilia G.

Very reasonable prices, however, it would be so much better if the slices of fish for the sushi were thicker....Several of the rolls had very interesting flavors, but it felt as if the fish was just complimenting the other flavors and not the other way around.....I'd stick to the $5-$7 rolls, the more expensive rolls are not as good... The mojo roll was horrid! But the pho soup is very good here and the staff is friendly and very attentive.

So I had to edit my review for this place. It started out as a good place to go but went down hill. We had a party of 3 with a child. We ordered her a really simple cream cheese roll. Server etiquette is to ALWAYS have the childs food out first unless states. Hers ended coming out the very last, seriously 40 minutes later!? Come on guys it takes 2 seconds to make, on top of that server forgot our appetizer. The manager did come out and apologize. Don't think we will be coming back anymore. And we were regulars there too.

There's an awesome selection at this place and the rolls were yummy! Staff was friendly and attentive. Perfect for lunch, since I got my food rather quick. I anticipate coming more often and will update to five stars when I've tried more rolls. ;-)

Great little sushi spot, the rolls are pretty cheap ranging from $3-$8 and I enjoyed what we ordered the crabby and king Kong roll were both delicious. Worth checking out

Very good! If you feel like some sashimi and a bowl of pho, this is the place to go! It's a little tough if you have a big group.

Fat fish is like a more casual version of Sapa. Some of the rolls are the same, but they are a little bit cheaper. Rolls range from $3-8 which is really competitive with all the 50% off sushi joints around and much less crowded. I think this place has much better quality of fish compared to Red Ginger and Ichiban on state street. Their rolls aren't overly drenched in sauce to the point where you can't even taste what kind of fish is in it, and I like that. I don't think I've had a roll that I didn't like, and I've tried almost all of them. My favorites are the dragonfly and the albacore garlic. Their menu is really simple and limited to a couple standard Japanese appetizers, nigiri and sashimi, sushi rolls and Vietnamese pho noodle soup. So if that's all you're craving, then definitely try this place out!

The food was really great! We got the King Kong, Samurai, the dragon fly and the crabby! The King Kong was my favorite! We didn't have to wait long for our food, the service was good compared to most sushi places I have been to. I would come here again in heartbeat!

Delicious and so reasonably priced! The mojo and the kamikaze rolls were wonderful! The ambiance is simple and well stated. They got busy right as we arrived but quickly brought out our food. Each roll we ordered (7 in total) tasted fresh and unique. Loved the flavors and the textures.

Nearly the same menu as Sapa at about 20% less. The drink menu is lacking but you can still get some sake or a beer.

Fast service; we were in and out in 30 minutes! Our order consisted of an appetizer, large sashimi plate, and 3 rolls. Our rolls came out before the appetizers. Waitress wasn't too knowledgeable when asking for a roll with a lot of fish, bit she came back quickly with a couple recommendations. Kinda cool that you also have the option to order pho, too. Overall, cute little place for a quick sushi fix. Prices are fair; they don't mark up and then say 50% off.

By far, my most favorite spot for phenomenal and fresh sushi. Read on to find out why!! GREAT PRICES: The menu is spaced out by price ranges and it starts from $3 I believe? (If not then it probably starts at $4 a roll) To I think $8 a roll. The price of the rolls are dependent on how elaborate and how many ingredients are used to make the roll. This is again a guesstimated assumption based on what I've gathered looking at the menu. Their reason for price separation could be a totally different reason. GREAT SUSHI: Not only are their prices so affordable, the quality you get for what you pay here is rarely matchable at many other sushi restaurants. The fish is always fresh and so are the produce ingredients used to make the rolls. The rolls are never wrapped too dense or too loose and the size of eat sushi piece is just perfectly delish! If it wasn't for me being so tiny, I swear I'd order the whole menu to myself each time I went if I could. Lol GREAT PHO: Along with their great sushi, they also offer pho!! And am I soo happy about that!! I use to eat pho at Pho Green Papaya several times a week before it changed to Noodle and Chopstick. When it changed and FatFish opened, offering the same pho that Pho Green Papaya had, I was sold!! This place definitely has the best pho and definitely the best sushi too!! GREAT STAFF: This is my favorite restaurant and my favorite place to eat! In addition to that, it's also so great to have a restaurant like this is the West Valley area just 5-10 minutes away from my house! Uhhh!! I can not fan girl about this restaurant enough!! It's a definite must try and I'm sure you'll be hooked! On a side note, their THAI ICED TEA is addictively awesome! I can not go without one when I visit to eat! AND I absolutely adore the sweet and friendly staff at this restaurant! I've been eating here since it opened and I will definitely continue eating here! Favorite Roll: The Kiss of Death Favorite Pho: Pho Tai, with the steak on the side.

Wanted to try this place out for a while now. Nothing to write home about. We ordered "green" tea and a variety of rolls. They brought jasmine tea instead, and in an iron pot. All the heat escaped quickly thank to the iron and the tea got pretty cold pretty quick. The ginger and wasabi were the low quality store bought kind. Menu was mostly fusion and about 3/4 of the rolls came with krab. Thankfully the sushi was better than I expected it, but still far below anything I consider "good sushi". The rice was nicely seasoned but a bit mushy. No problem I could live with that. The fish were reasonably fresh but came in such small pieces. The ambient and layout was pretty awkward. The tables were so small and rather close together and people kept staring at our food and at us (yes you white lady who gave me hateful stares like I just murdered her babies)....seriously! I was so uncomfortable. The plates they bring you are huge, but the sushi rolls are tiny. That's just hilariously problematic and unfitting as 3 rolls would cramp the entire table. We were pretty meh about the experience and I am not sure how to feel about eating here again.
